Artist’s Statement

Mike Winter creates a visually penetrating aesthetic within his work, through the use of detailed and arresting imagery. His goal is to communicate an engaging an unexpected narrative with the viewer by pulling together multiple themes into a single artwork. The detail in his work is contrasted by a paired down colour palette, predominantly using black to define the tones and form of the subject.

He applies recurring themes throughout, ranging from the power of nature, the tensions of society, and the pressures of urban living.

Mike specialises in short run print editions and stand-alone artworks. He has exhibited widely and can be found in numerous private collections, galleries, group exhibitions and juried shows. Most recently The Royal Arts Prize, La Galleria, Pall Mall and shortlisted for Royal Academy Summer exhibition.
